About Elina

I write fiction and I’m interested in languages, literature, history, and the many strange connections between them. I’ve a particular fondness for classical antiquity and spend a considerable amount of time learning languages, reading old books, and following questions wherever they lead.

I hold a B.A. in International Relations and Russian Studies and an M.A. in Conflict Research, Management and Resolution, and I’m trained in professional mediation. My current studies include Ancient Greek and Arabic, alongside a continuing interest in the intellectual and literary traditions of the ancient and Renaissance worlds.

Beyond books and languages, I have a longstanding interest in the natural world, animals, and the relationship between people and the landscapes in which they live. I’m also interested in traditional crafts and practical knowledge, including historical hand-sewing techniques and woodcarving.

I’ve a deep appreciation for early mornings, quiet places, handmade things, and the simplicity of a life built around reading, making, walking, and caring for other living beings.

This site is where I collect my books and writing, along with some of the things I become interested in along the way.
